Cyber Essentials Plus

Cyber Essentials Plus and Cyber Essentials from Crest IT

Cyber Essentials Plus Accreditation and New Service

Crest IT are delighted to announce that we have achieved Cyber Essentials Plus, the UK Government-backed and industry-supported standard, designed to help organisations protect themselves against online threats.

Furthermore, Crest IT has now partnered with Bradford-based IT Wiser, a Cyber Essentials UK and Cyber Essentials Plus certification body, so that together we can help and support businesses looking to protect their own online security and achieve these accreditations.

There are two different accreditation standards:

  • Cyber Essentials
  • Cyber Essentials Plus

Cyber Essentials vs Cyber Essentials Plus

The Cyber Essentials standard helps most businesses prevent most cyber-attacks and was originally set up by the UK Government in 2014 for SME businesses.

Increasingly all businesses rely on their IT systems to support their day-to-day operations and the security aspect can often be forgotten about. Sadly, this then means that these businesses are susceptible to viruses and ransomware, and without proper security measures in place then online security attacks could cause significant disruption to a business, and you could find yourself in breach of GDPR guidelines around the protection of client data.

Once the Cyber Essentials accreditation has been achieved, then businesses can look to move on to the next stage, Cyber Essentials Plus. At this level, your IT systems are thoroughly tested and verified by professionals using techniques that a hacker might employ.

How to get Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus Certifications

Contact the Crest IT team in the first instance, and we can discuss with you the stages you need to go through to be ready for the Cyber Essentials accreditation audit, which is the first step in the process. We will be able to support you through every stage and ensure that all the elements required are covered to help prevent a cyber breach.

Why get Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus?

Achieving these accreditations is not about ticking a box (or boxes!) It shows that you take cyber security seriously for the benefit of your organisation, for the safety of your customers and partners, and for any data that you hold relating to them.

Many tenders for business, private or within the public sector now request that suppliers can prove how secure their systems are, and the Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus accreditations do demonstrate this. Please don’t leave it until you are at that stage, look at what you can do now.

Who needs Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus?

Any business that uses any aspect of IT or online operational systems should consider having Cyber Essentials and/or Cyber Essentials Plus standards.

They mean that you have the most up-to-date cyber security systems in place and demonstrate to your customers that you have protected their data from online hackers.
