The Next Step Trust is a UK charity supporting adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities, complex health needs and autism. Next Step was established in 2006, founded by parents who were in search of a person-centred, stimulating service for their sons and daughters to attend after finishing high school. At the time, it was described as ‘falling off a precipice’, as there was no suitable provision in the area for young adults with such complex needs. Next Step has developed over the years into a bespoke provision developing facilities and providing opportunities in response to the changing needs of its users, providing support across 3 Day Services and a Respite provision.
The Challenge
When Next Step first approached us over 20 years ago, they were a small organisation with big ambitions but limited resources and a tight budget. Their challenge was clear: to build robust systems, processes and infrastructure that could support operations without compromising the quality of their work. They needed a supplier who could help them work efficiently, making every investment count as they pursued their long-term objective to have happier Next Steppers.
