A new race hits the ground running as Halifax hosts its first-ever 10K event

The streets of Sowerby Bridge came alive this past weekend as runners of all levels took part in the inaugural Halifax 10K, a brand-new addition to the local sporting calendar that made an immediate impact.

Organised by Halifax Harriers, the event attracted a strong turnout, with participants taking on a fully closed-road course that offered a fast, accessible route through the local area. From experienced runners chasing personal bests to those simply looking to enjoy the atmosphere, the event delivered something for everyone.

At Crest It Solutions, we were proud to be involved as a race sponsor alongside our sister company ABS, supporting an event that not only promotes health and wellbeing but also strengthens community connections across Halifax and beyond.

A Collective Effort Behind the Scenes

Pulling off a first-time event of this scale is no small task, and credit must go to Halifax Harriers for delivering such a well-organised and enjoyable race day. From planning and logistics to execution on the day, the attention to detail ensured a smooth experience for runners and spectators alike.

Equally important were the course volunteers, whose commitment and enthusiasm played a vital role. Despite challenging early morning conditions, they were out in force, guiding runners, offering encouragement, and helping to create a welcoming and supportive environment throughout the course.

A Great Day for Local Runners

It was fantastic to see runners take to the course and embrace everything the event had to offer. The combination of a well-designed route and strong community support made for a memorable experience, with plenty of smiles.

Looking Ahead

The success of this first event signals a bright future for the Halifax 10K. With such a strong debut, it’s clear there is both the appetite and the community backing for it to grow into a staple fixture in the region’s running calendar.

We’re delighted to have played a part in its beginning and look forward to seeing how the event develops in the years ahead.
